Titans Star Joshua Orpin Thinks This Upcoming DC Film Could Use Superboy – Exclusive

To the casual observer, it can be a bit difficult to discern what’s within the DC Extended Universe and what’s not included. 2019’s “Joker” is completely separate from anything that’s come before or after, and the Snyderverse of films, consisting of “Man of Steel,” “Batman v. Superman,” and “Justice League,” exist within a loose continuity. Don’t even get us started on the TV side of things.

It’s clear DC has fully embraced a rich multiverse for its properties. Some movies and TV shows exist together while others are apart, and ultimately, it allows the company to tell more diverse stories. “The Batman,” starring Robert Pattinson, permits the Dark Knight to live on the big screen even after Ben Affleck portrayed the character in the Zack Snyder movies, and “Shazam!” can be as goofy and colorful as it wants to be. Everything can co-exist without destroying any pre-established canon (for the most part).

Over on HBO Max, “Titans” exists alongside the likes of “Doom Patrol,” but that isn’t stopping star Joshua Orpin, who plays Superboy, from speculating on the crossover to end all crossovers. In an exclusive interview with Looper, Orpin talked about the one upcoming DC project he wouldn’t mind seeing Superboy in, and it makes a ton of sense.

Joshua Orpin thinks Superboy would slide nicely into the Flash movie

It’s easy to see how “Titans” took some cues from other DC properties. It’s dark, gritty, and characters aren’t afraid of dropping an F-bomb once in a while. The influence wasn’t lost on Orpin, who compared his DC show to some of the films in the DCEU. “I always thought that tonally, what ‘Titans’ was doing wasn’t too far away from what Zack Snyder was doing with his series of films,” Orpin explains. “That the DC extended universe? Is that what we call it now? I feel like particularly the Brenton Thwaites Nightwing could slide into that world; I think quite easily and be believable.”

Sadly, for comic book movie fans, the Snyderverse seems to have met an untimely end, at least for now. However, there’s another property in which Orpin thinks Superboy could work fairly easily. He elaborates, “Although that upcoming ‘Flash’ film, or you probably know more about it than I do. They’re doing some kind of ‘Flashpoint’ thing, right? They’re doing alternate versions of different characters? I can see Superboy popping up in that. They’re doing Supergirl.”

Sasha Calle will rep the Kryptonian people in the upcoming “Flash” movie with no sign of Superboy in sight. It might be for the best. It already sounds like there will be a lot going on in the flick, and Orpin can spend more time bringing his best to “Titans.”

New episodes of “Titans” air every Thursday on HBO Max.
