The Spider-Man: No Way Home Spoilers That Have Already Been Leaked

The Spider-Man: No Way Home Spoilers That Have Already Been Leaked

“Spider-Man: No Way Home” is easily the most anticipated movie of 2021 and one of the most talked-about films of the last decade. A lot of the hype surrounding the Tom Holland-led flick has to do with the massive amount of spoilers and leaks that have been pouring in for well over a year now. Unfortunately, that’s just the world we live in these days, as many superhero movie fans actively look for spoilers, making it difficult for those trying to avoid them. With outlets like Twitter and Reddit, the only way to really avoid spoilers is to stay off social media entirely and be very selective about what headlines you click.

The more leaks come out of “No Way Home,” the more people lose their minds, and the hunt for even more spoilers begins. This has caused the movie to trend on Twitter almost every day for the last few months. Sony Pictures has likely never had so much free press for a film in their 30+ year history.

Some “No Way Home” leaks are minor, while others are plot-ruining bombshells. We’ve compiled a list of all the major spoilers from the upcoming film that we could find. Now, some of these were confirmed months after leaks, while others are still being kept under wraps. We should also mention it’s entirely possible that some of the leaks on this list don’t come to fruition. Many spoilers and leaks ahead of “Avengers: Endgame” didn’t pan out, and we expect the same for “Spider-Man: No Way Home.”

If it wasn’t obvious, there are MAJOR SPOILERS AHEAD, which may or may not ruin the entire movie’s plot. Read at your own risk.

Andrew Garfield and Tobey Maguire will reprise their Web-Slinger roles

Let’s go ahead and get the big one out of the way. It’s the spoiler that essentially launched the madness surrounding “Spider-Man: No Way Home” and might just be one of the biggest leaks in movie history. One of the earliest outlets to report on the rumors was Fandom Wire, who cited an insider at Sony who revealed Andrew Garfield and Tobey Maguire had signed on to the film. This news dropped way back in October 2020, so “Spider-Man” movie fans have been losing their minds and speculating about the duo’s inclusion for well over a year.

In the last year, multiple leaks have come out regarding the former Web-Slingers and how they will fit into the “No Way Home” story. One of the biggest bombshells came in November as leaked set photos made their way onto Twitter. The damning picture showed Garfield and Maguire alongside Tom Holland in their Spidey suits, confirming the original news from over a year ago.

There was also a major debacle involving a leaked video of Garfield on the “No Way Home” set, which has been debunked and rebunked about 1000 times. The video creator claims the clip is a deepfake, and it was all a ruse, but some VFX experts claim the video is actually authentic.

No matter how many times poor Andrew Garifled denies his involvement in “No Way Home,” we’re pretty confident this is one spoiler that is definitely going to be proven true.

Former Spidey film villains will return

Sure, we all know that Electro (Jamie Foxx), Green Goblin (Willem Dafoe), Doctor Octopus (Alfred Molina), Lizard (Rhys Ifans), and Sandman (Thomas Haden Church) are featured heavily in “Spider-Man: No Way Home” thanks to the trailers. Only the first three have their actors confirmed to be appearing, but Ifans and Haden Church are still just rumored at this point despite their former characters’ confirmation.

It’s common knowledge these days, but there was a time when the news of the fivesome’s involvement was a massive spoiler. In October of last year, Foxx actually spoiled his own appearance by sharing a fan-made poster on his Instagram — it’s since been deleted but lives on forever on Reddit. He confirmed he’d be back in the caption but promised he wouldn’t be blue this time. The fan-made poster also included three Spider-Men. Why Foxx thought it was okay to post that on Instagram is beyond us.

Fandom Wire yet again broke the news last year of Green Goblin appearing in “No Way Home,” and The Illumierndi confirmed it would be Dafoe returning to the role just a few months later. Later, in November 2020, Geeks Worldwide revealed Molina was rumored to return as Doctor Octopus, building up suspicions of a Sinister Six.

These spoilers are ancient history now, and it’s been so long since they’ve been confirmed by the trailers and other news outlets (like The Hollywood Reporter) that they don’t even seem like leaks anymore.

Eddie Brock will be making an appearance

We all assumed we’d see Tom Hardy’s Venom and Tom Holland’s Spider-Man onscreen together at some point, and things took a major step forward in “Venom: Let There Be Carnage.” In the movie’s post-credits scene, Venom sees Holland’s Peter Parker on television and licks him, saying, “This guy.” With the confirmation that we’ll be seeing Venom and Spider-Man cross paths, many fans wonder when. Well, if the leaks are accurate, it will be in “Spider-Man: No Way Home.”

According to BGR, who credits an AMA on 4Chan, Hardy’s Eddie Brock will meet Holland’s Peter at The Daily Bugel offices in an end-credit scene. The spoiler suggests Eddie will walk into a room with Peter and J. Jonah Jameson (J.K. Simmons) and says, “Hey, Peter” to the youngster. There’s no clarification on if this scene lasts longer or if it’s just this very brief tease, or if Venom rears his ugly head.

Holland recently added fuel to the Hardy fire when speaking with CinemaBlend about the “Let There Be Carnage” post-credits scene. When discussing said scene, Holland noted, “I was on set, [producer] Amy Pascal came over to me and had a conversation about it. I was very excited. Tom Hardy came to set only a few days later to film his side of the Venom tag.”

It seems like an innocent enough comment, but those who saw the “Let There Be Carnage” end-credits scene know the footage of Holland from the film is old. Kevin Feige and Amy Pascal also confirmed that footage from “Spider-Man: Far From Home” was reused on Eddie and Venom’s TV set in the same interview. So, why was Hardy on the set of “No Way Home?” Precisely.

Charlie Cox is returning as Daredevil

A lot of the returning character rumors all happened within a few months of each other back in 2020, and the addition of Charlie Cox to the “Spider-Man: No Way Home” roster was one of the most surprising. The actor played Matt Murdock, aka Daredevil, in the Netflix series of the same name for three seasons. The show was a massive success for the streamer, and Cox’s portrayal of Daredevil was widely praised. We were never sure if we’d see him suit up as the Man Without Fear again, but it looks like it’s definitely happening.

The aforementioned photo leak of Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield came with a second photo that included an entirely different group of people. This one sees Matt Murdock, Peter Parker, Aunt May (Marissa Tomei), and Happy Hogan (Jon Favreau) sitting at a table in an apartment. It is clearly Cox in the photo as Matt Murdock, and it looks as if he might be giving Peter legal advice. Leaks also suggest this is a brief appearance, and Cox will only show up in this one scene (although other leaks indicate he’s in the second end-credits scene).

The likeness of the photo’s authenticity turned up a notch when Kevin Feige confirmed earlier this month that if we see Daredevil in a future MCU project, Cox would be the one playing him.

Ned is responsible for the multiple Peter Parkers

Our following six spoilers all hail from the same plot leak that has gained an immense amount of traffic over on Reddit. A few of these points have been theorized, but this story leak “confirms” many of them. The post is a translation of a Chinese website, which allegedly details the entire plot step by step.

Again, these plot leaks are MAJOR and are not as well-known as the previous spoilers, so continue reading at your own risk. It is also entirely possible these leaks are partially incorrect or entirely.

According to the story spoiler, Ned (Jacob Batalon) will have a significant role in the film. After Peter and Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) have a physical altercation, Peter winds up with Stephen’s sling ring and gives it to Ned. They somehow get separated from one another, and Ned and MJ (Zendaya) are now on their own trying to find Peter. Asking to find Peter Parker, Ned opens a portal, and Andrew Garfield’s Peter walks through. When they try and find their Peter through another portal, Tobey Maguire’s Spidey enters. Both are reportedly in everyday clothes and convince MJ and Ned that they genuinely are Spider-Man.

It should also be noted that Ned can only open portals, not close them. There are no details on if this causes any other issues or if it has anything to do with the villains’ entrance into the film.

Doctor Strange has a smaller role

One of the most surprising, albeit more minor, leaks regarding “Spider-Man: No Way Home” is about Doctor Strange’s role. According to the same Reddit story spoiler, Doctor Strange does not have a very large part in the movie. This comes as quite a shock, given that he occupies a hefty amount of both trailers. He seems pretty integral to the story, but this leak is suggesting that’s not the case.

“Doctor Strange appears throughout the film. His role is not big. When the other two Spidey’s appear, he is trapped somewhere without his sling ring,” the leak claims. It suggests that he is brought into the final battle after Ned mistakenly opens a portal, bringing him through. This is at night time where we see Peter and Doctor Strange together, with the former yelling that “they’re starting to come through.” The leak then suggests Doctor Strange will try and hold this multiverse crack throughout the entirety of the final battle, which will see the three Spider-Men take on Lizard, Electro, and Sandman, as we see in the second trailer.

Andrew Garfield's Spider-Man will get redemption

In the second trailer for the film, we see a terrifying moment for MJ. She and Ned are present for the fight at the Statue of Liberty, and in the scuffle, the scaffolding around it gives way, and she starts to plummet. The scene draws a sad parallel to the death of Gwen Stacy (Emma Stone) from “The Amazing Spider-Man 2.” As hard as he tried, Andrew Garfield’s Peter Parker couldn’t save her as she died from a devastating fall.

Fans immediately began theorizing that MJ would be saved, but not by Tom Holland’s Spider-Man. Many suspected it would be Garfield’s Web-Slinger who saves her from the fall as somewhat of a redemption for being unable to save Gwen. Well, according to the story leak, that’s precisely what’s going to happen. The leak suggests Tom’s Spidey tries to at first, but Green Goblin thwarts him. It’s here that Garfield’s Spider-Man comes in and saves the day.

The Spider-Man villains will be reformed

Many “Spider-Man: No Way Home” theories surround the villains. Fans have long been wondering who would be the sixth baddie after it was rumored the Sinister Six would appear. This story leak is sure to burst bubbles across the globe, as there is apparently no sixth villain. That being said, we’re going to see something unusual for villains in a superhero movie.

According to the leaks, none of the villains will die in “No Way Home.” They’re actually going to be reformed and will no longer be evil. This would completely go against what Doctor Strange says regarding the big bads in the trailer. “They all die fighting Spider-Man. It’s their fate,” he notes. The leak is very brief on this, but apparently, they will also be sent back to their respective timelines/universes as good guys. Doctor Strange looks to be integral in this switch from bad to good, but for now, there’s not much more detail on the plot twist.

Say bye-bye to a major character

Long before “Avengers: Endgame,” fans speculated which of the major players were going to die. The MCU fandom was confident we’d be losing either Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) or Steve Rogers (Chris Evans). Others — those who want to watch the world burn — speculated we’d lose both Captain America and Iron Man. We did end up losing two Avengers but swapped out Cap for the beloved Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson).

It’s basically “Endgame” round two right now as Spidey fans are wondering who will bite the bullet in “Spider-Man: No Way Home.” Everyone has been offered up in terms of theory. Reddit is riddled with theories suggesting Ned, MJ, or Happy Hogan might die, but this new plot leak suggests it’ll be someone else entirely. If the spoiler is accurate, we will be saying goodbye to Aunt May — we can feel your stomach dropping. Losing May will be a devastating blow, knocking out the last family member Peter has.

Peter, MJ, Ned, and Happy will reportedly all be there when May dies, which will allegedly be at the hands of Green Goblin. The leak suggests she will be impaled by his glider, and Peter will intercept a pumpkin bomb right after, which is meant to finish her off. The bomb won’t even be needed as May will succumb to her wounds from the glider. Peter will also have a chance to take out Goblin, but Tobey Maguire’s Spider-Man will stop him. Right after, Maguire’s Peter will be stabbed by Green Goblin, but he’ll survive.

Remember, Spider-Man fans, for every plot leak out there; there is another that contradicts it. Nothing is set in stone until the film premieres, so we can all hope that Aunt May makes it out of this one alive.

Find out for yourself when “Spider-Man: No Way Home” hits theaters on December 17.
