He’ll appear in the Russo Brothers’ hot new action franchise led by Chris Evans and Ryan Gosling.
The film’s superhero-sized budget is estimated to be at least $200 million, making it the largest for a Netflix project, Deadline reported in July 2020, when the film was first announced. The ambitious endeavor is expected to evolve into a James Bond-like franchise.
Based on the 2009 book by Mark Greaney, The Gray Man will see a face-off between Gosling, as former CIA agent Court Gentry, and Evans, as his former-colleague-turned-opponent Lloyd Hansen. “These are master assassins, and Gosling’s characters gets burned by the CIA and Evans’ character has to hunt him down,” Joe Russo told the outlet.
He also said of the film’s scale, “The intention is for it to be competitive with any theatrical, and the ability to do with with Gosling and Evans is a dream for us. The idea is to create a franchise and build out a whole universe, with Ryan at the center of it.” Considering The Gray Man is part of a book series, more installments are possible.
At the moment, details about Page’s character, as well as a few others, are still under wraps. Production will begin in two weeks in Los Angeles.
