Since the Odyssey affair, and the recovery of the wreck 'La Mercedes' with a little more than half a million coins minted in silver and gold, Spaniards are more aware of heritage issues thanks to the media coverage it had. However, we continue to have a simplified, or simplistic, idea of the concept of heritage, closer to what Indiana Jones might have – practically none – than to the very complex current reality in a globalized world. A case of less repercussion was the purchase at auction of the Braganza Fibula – an Iberian brooch of gold and enamel from the 3rd century BC – by the British Museum, for 1.1 million pounds sterling in 2001.
