Women's football is also not spared from the new wave of the pandemic. The Iberdrola League has postponed this Tuesday the match between Athletic and Atlético de Madrid that was to be played on Wednesday at 4:00 p.m. in Vizcaya due to an outbreak of the virus in the rojiblanco team. Five players and the club's first coach, Óscar Fernández, have tested positive in a PCR test that was carried out on the entire team. These new cases are added to that of the soccer player Amanda Frisbie, whose contagion was made known last Friday.
It was Atlético de Madrid itself that made the decision public through a statement issued on Twitter. “Our soccer players and coach remain isolated in their respective homes complying with the corresponding quarantine, following the protocols of the health authorities,” they say from the club. The six players who have tested positive are Maitane López, Bárbara Latorre, Claudia Iglesias, Bénédicte Simon and Thembi Kgatlana.
