Archie Yates Reveals What It Was Like Working With Taika Waititi In Jojo Rabbit – Exclusive

At just ten years old, Archie Yates made a name for himself as Yorki on Taika Waititi’s Oscar-winning film “Jojo Rabbit.” Since his performance as Jojo’s best friend, Yates has snagged a number of roles, including the new Apple TV+ animated series, “Wolfboy and the Everything Factory.” Yates seems to be a magnet for impressive Hollywood staples, frequently working with the some of the top names in all of Hollywood. Between legends like Waititi and voice acting alongside Joseph Gordon-Levitt in “Wolfboy and the Everything Factory,” the young actor has a whole lot of top-tier talent to look up to and emulate. At such a young age, it’s incredible to think how he could grow as a performer.

During an exclusive interview with Looper for “Wolfboy and the Everything Factory,” Archie Yates dished on working with Hollywood icons like Taika Waititi and Joseph Gordon-Levitt. He also revealed why everyone should tune into “Wolfboy and the Everything Factory” and what initially drew him to the script.

The best in the biz

On what it’s been like working with industry staples like Taika Waititi and Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Yates said, “Well, working with Taika, in particular, was really enjoyable and really funny. He’s just such a cool guy, and I really, really enjoyed working with him on ‘Jojo Rabbit.'” He added, “He would just be so chilled out all the time. Not so much when he was in focus on work mode, but still, he was really, really nice to everyone.” That’s certainly the ultimate vibe for someone’s first project.

Switching to working on “Wolfboy and the Everything Factory,” Yates explained, “And working with Joseph on this fantastical project has been absolutely amazing because I cannot wait for my two little cousins — probably four cousins now. Yeah, four cousins that are younger than me. I can’t wait for them to watch this — I feel like they are going to really enjoy it, because this show is designed for young children.”

On what drew him to the series, Yates noted, “So when I first got this script from my agent, I thought to myself, ‘This is weird, and this is very bizarre.’ And as I learned more information about him, what it was about, I gradually liked it more until I was at the point where I was like, ‘Yes, I would love to do this.'”

The full season of “Wolfboy and the Everything Factory” is available now on Apple TV+.
